Morioka

Morioka is the capital of Iwate Prefecture in northern Tohoku, about 2.5 hours from Tokyo on the Tohoku Shinkansen, set where the Kitakami and Nakatsu rivers meet under the volcanic cone of Mount Iwate. The name means roughly 'prosperous hill'.
