Mahabalipuram (also known as Mamallapuram) is a coastal town in Tamil Nadu, 60km south of Chennai, and UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its extraordinary 7th–8th century Pallava dynasty rock-cut temples, monolithic rathas (chariots), massive bas-relief panels, and the iconic Shore Temple.
