Chiayi is a city and county in central-southern Taiwan that serves as the primary gateway to Alishan National Scenic Area — Taiwan's most famous mountain resort with misty forests, spectacular sea-of-clouds sunrises, ancient cypress trees, and the scenic Alishan Forest Railway.
